The British Aircraft Corp (BAC) was formed because the British government demanded that the TSR.2 attack bomber would only be purchased from a merged group of then existing aircraft companies.  The company ended by the nationalization of the aerospace industry.

History

1960: The British Aircraft Corp (BAC) is formed by merging Bristol, English Electric and Vickers.  BAC also acquires controlling interest in Hunting Aircraft.

1965: The TSR.2 contract is terminated and Hunting Aircraft is closed.

1977: BAC is merged into British Aerospace by the nationalization of the aerospace industry.
