The Aircraft

The F-107 was designed as a tactical fighter-bomber version of the F-100, with a recessed weapon bay under the fuselage.  The first F-107 flew on September 10, 1956.

Three YF-107As were built as prototypes and were test flown extensively, but the aircraft did not go into production as the Air Force choose

the Republic F-105 Thunderchief as the standard fighter-bomber for the Tactical Air Command.

Three F-107s were built.  Two remain, one at the Pima Air & Space Museum and the other at the National Museum of the Air Force
