The Packard Motorcar Company mass produced the Liberty 12 V-12 engine for use in World War I.  The company continued developing and producing aircraft engines after the war, but was pretty much out of the aviation picture by the early 1930s.

Less well known is that Packard manufactured the LUSAC 11, a fighter aircraft designed in 1917.

During World War II, Packard mass-produced the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine under license.  The Merlin received the designation V-1650 by the U.S. military.
