Aero
Vodochody produces the L159 light fighter, several jet trainers
and the Ae270 Ibis utility aircraft. The company also upgrades
existing aircraft and produces aircraft subassemblies.
History
1919: Aero
Tovarna Letadel is established outside of Prague to build
Phoenix fighters under license.
1938: Aero taken over by the German
aviation industry.
1948: Czech industry is nationalized.
1953: Aircraft factory established at
Vodochody and named Aero Vodochody Narodni Podnik
1990: Joint stock company replaces
state-owned industry.
